ITEM TITLE: Recognition of John Gorman
SUBMITTED BY: Cally Price,Assistant to the City Manager
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Mr. Gorman has accomplished the following: encouraged HAAS to become more involved in the
Yakima community, including support of the $250,000 donation to the Yakima Plaza; donated
thousands of little soaps and shampoos to the Union Gospel Mission over his 20+ year career;
donated HAAS sponsored dinners to the YMCA and other local service organizations worth tens
of thousands of dollars; reserve Yakima Police Officer for 22 years (on top of his career at
HAAS); personally invited owners and brewers to Yakima for the past 20+ years; supported and
encouraged their numerous visits and trips bringing hundreds of thousands of dollars to our local
economy; and, well known from Yakima and respected in the brewing industry as a worldwide
leader in hops.
