STUDY SESSION

Council: Mayor Kathy Coffey, presiding, Assistant Mayor Carmen Mendez, Council Members
Maureen Adkison, Holly Cousens, Avina Gutierrez, Dulce Gutierrez and Bill Lover
Staff: City Manager Moore and City Clerk Clear Tee
2. 2017-2020 Yakima Economic Development Strategic Plan
Economic Development Manager Hawkins briefed Council on the plan.
The following Economic Development partners spoke in support of the plan: Verlynn Best,
Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce; Luz Gutierrez, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce;
and Maria DJ Rodriguez, Rural Community Development Resources.
The City Clerk read the resolution by title only. After Council discussion,
MOTION: Adkison moved and Cousens seconded to accept and adopt the Economic
Development Strategic Plan (resolution). The motion carried by a 6-1 vote, Lover voting
no.
RESOLUTION NO. R-2017-021 A RESOLUTION approving and adopting the Yakima
Economic Development Strategic Plan for the City of Yakima, which establishes priorities,
identifies strategies, and sets performance measures to monitor and measure Strategic Plan
progress.
Adjournment
MOTION: Coffey moved to adjourn to the next City Council Business meeting today,
February 21, 2017, at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The motion carried by
unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 5:06 p.m.
