ITEM TITLE: Set April 18, 2017 as the date for a public hearing to consider the
Yakima Planning Commission's recommendation concerning text
amendments to Title 15 Yakima Urban Area Zoning Ordinance,
related to the sign code and definition for multi-family dwelling

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
On March 21, 2017, the City of Yakima Planning Commission rendered is recommendation to the
Yakima City Council regarding text amendments to Title 15 Yakima Urban Area Zoning Ordinance
to the City's sign code YMC 15.08 to comply with recent changes in law regarding content
neutrality of signs. The Planning Commission also rendered a recommendation regarding an
amendment to the definition of multi-family dwelling YMC 15.02 to allow for alternate forms of
housing such as tiny homes/efficiency units. In accordance with YMC 16.10.090, the Yakima City
Council is being requested to set April 18, 2017, as the date for two separate public hearings to
consider these amendments.
