wilEREAS, emergencies can occur at any time that require Caw enforcement,fire or
emergency medical services; and
WiFEREAS, when an emergency occurs it is the prompt response of Caw enforcement
officers,firefighters, and emergency medical service providers that is critical to the protection of
fife and preservation of property; and
WiFEREAS, the safety of our Caw enforcement officers,firefighters, and emergency
medical service providers is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained
from citizens who telephone the Yakima County's E911 Communications Center, known as
SunComm; and
WiFEREAS, emergency call-takers and dispatchers are the first and most critical
contact our citizens have with emergency services; and
WiFEREAS, emergency call-takers and dispatchers are the single vitaCCink for our Caw
enforcement officers,firefighters, and emergency medical service providers by monitoring their
activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety; and
WiFEREAS, emergency call-takers and dispatchers of SunComm have contributed
substantiaCCy to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients;
and
WiFEREAS, each emergency caCG-taker and dispatcher has ekhibited compassion,
understanding, professionalism, and displayed untiring efforts during their assigned shifts in
the past year;
NOW T. ERET ORE, I, Kathy Coffey, 91Iayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf of
the Yakima City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekofApriC9-15, 2017 as
'NATIONAL TELE COJVLJVLvMICATORS WEEK"
in the City of Yakima, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep
our City and citizens safe.
