New Business la. Discuss and make recommendation to the full Council re: request from Jesuit Volunteer Corps for mayor to register as a supporter of national service and for a proclamation to be issued naming April 4th, 2017 "National Service Recognition Day" Following a brief presentation by staff and committee discussion regarding the request from the Jesuit Volunteer Corps ("JVC"), Chair Lover moved the committee recommend the full Council accept the request for the mayor to register as a supporter of national service by registering on a website provided by the JVC and issue a proclamation naming April 4th, 2017 "National Service Recognition Day." Councilmember Adkison seconded the motion. The motion passed on a 3-0 vote. lb. Discuss and make recommendation to the full Council re: request from Washington SAFE Alliance for the Council to issue a public statement supporting equality and respect for transgender and gender non -conforming youth in Yakima Following a brief presentation by staff and committee discussion regarding the request from Washington SAFE Alliance, Chair Lover moved the committee not forward the request to the full Council for consideration. Councilmember Adkison seconded the motion. The motion passed on a 2- 1 vote (Councilmember Holly Cousens voted no). Since the vote was not unanimous, the request from Washington SAFE Alliance will be forwarded to the full Council for its consideration. lc. Discuss and make recommendation to the full Council re: amending the City of Yakima's 2017-2018 Federal Legislative & Administrative Priorities to include immigration reform Following a brief presentation by staff and committee discussion regarding amending the City of Yakima's 2017-2018 Federal Legislative & Administrative Priorities to include immigration reform, Chair Lover moved the committee not forward amending the priorities list to the full Council for consideration. Councilmember Adkison seconded the motion. The motion passed on 3-0 vote. Id. Discuss and make recommendation to the full Council re: request from Yakima Housing Authority for a letter from the City Council to the Washington State Congressional delegation concerning proposed cuts to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") budget Following a brief presentation by staff and committee discussion regarding the request from Yakima Housing Authority for a letter from the City Council to the Washington State Congressional delegation concerning proposed cuts to the HUD budget, Councilmember Adkison moved the committee recommend the full Council accept the request.
