A RESOLUTION authorizing execution of an Agreement with Washington State Department
of Commerce for a grant of $99,910.00 for improvements to Elks Memorial
Park.
WHEREAS, Elks Memorial Park is a vital asset to the community and is the home of
Yakima National Little League; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 ® 2027 Yakima Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan
identifies improvements to Elks Memorial Park; and
WHEREAS, Elks Memorial Park is utilized by Yakima National Little League for children's
baseball and softball games; and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) has been awarded grant funds from the Washington
State Department of Commerce in the amount of $99,910.00 towards improvements in the
construction of the fencing and irrigation system; and
WHEREAS, the City's Parks and Recreation Division relies on fundraising efforts„ grants,
and donations to expand the scope of work needed for park improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City's parks are a benefit to the community, and add to the quality of life
for those that utilize the parks; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that approval of such Grant Agreement is in the best
interests of the City of Yakima and its residents and will promote the general health, safety and
welfare; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council approves Agreement 26-96647-093, attached hereto and incorporated
herein by this reference, authorizing the City Manager, or their designee, to execute and
administer such Agreement with Washington State Department of Commerce, and all applicable
documents and agreements pursuant to such grant from Washington State Department of
Commerce,
