R-2006-190 declaring three non -automated type refuse trucks surplus and authorizing their sale as trade-in for the budgeted 2007 acquisition of an automated sideloading refuse truck. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns three non -automated type refuse trucks, equipment numbers ER 3099; ER 3125; ER3131 that are beyond their anticipated life of seven years, for which the City has no immediate or foreseeable use, and are surplus to the needs of the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima will be purchasing a new automated sideloading refuse truck in 2007; and WHEREAS, the vendor providing the new automated refuse truck agrees to take the three surplus refuse trucks in trade for the new unit; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to declare these three older refuse trucks surplus and remove them from its fleet because these refuse trucks are beyond their anticipated life of seven years, are no longer needed to fill the current needs of the Refuse Division and should be removed from the fleet, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned non -automated type refuse trucks, equipment numbers ER 3099; ER 3125; ER3131 to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima, and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell all three of said refuse trucks in a manner most favorable to the City of Yakima. In any event, these vehicles are more than seven years old and have served the City's manual program well, but are no longer needed. These trucks will be used in trade for the 2007 automated refuse truck acquisition and the proceeds will reduce the total capital requirement.
