R-2005- 48 A RESOLUTION declaring an array of dimensional lumber and building materials surplus and authorizing their donation to the Habitat For Humanity Yakima Valley Partners. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns used lumber and building materials, that have been salvaged from several City Hall remodel projects over the years, for which the City has no immediate or foreseeable use and are surplus to the needs of the City; and WHEREAS, the Habitat For Humanity has requested these surplus, salvaged building materials be donated to the Habitat For Humanity Yakima Valley Partners Program; and WHEREAS, the Code Administration and Planning Division recommends that these salvaged building materials be donated to the Habitat For Humanity for their use since they no monetary value; and WHEREAS, the Habitat For Humanity is interested in receiving the salvaged building materials for their program which helps low-income families establish home ownership; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to donate the salvaged building materials due to inadequate storage and because they have no monetary value, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned array of dimensional lumber and salvaged building materials has no monetary value and is surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima, and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to donate said building materials to the Habitat For Humanity Yakima Valley Partners Program. This material would be used to continue our program of providing homes for low income families in the Yakima valley. The City has no foreseeable use for these salvaged building materials, they have no monetary value and the City has inadequate storage space in which to store this material.
