A RESOLUTION fixing the time and place for hearing on an amendment to the 2005
through 2010 Six Year Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima annually prepares, reviews and adopts a Six Year
Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima for the
ensuing six year period, all as contemplated and required by State and Federal law, and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has identified a need to amend the current Six Year
Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing must be held on said amended program before final
approval, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That said amended program shall be presented for hearing and determination on Tuesday,
December 14, 2004, at the hour of 2:00 PM on said day, in the Council Chambers of the City
of Yakima, at Yakima City Hall, Yakima, Washington, or as soon thereafter as the same may
be heard, and that notice of such hearing be given as approved by law.

The following projects that have been added since adopting the 2005 - 2010 STIP:
Roadway Projects:
1St Street/Washington Avenue Signal Upgrade
Upgrade Signals, widen/realign, curb, gutter, sidewalk, drainage
Tieton Drive/5th Avenue Intersection Upgrade (Roundabout)
Replace traffic signal with roundabout
48th Avenue Widening from Summitview Ave. to Nob Hill Blvd.
Widen, reconstruct with curb, gutter, sidewalk, drainage, illumination
Nob Hill Blvd./6th Street Signal Project
Add Federal funding to the existing project
Transit Projects:
Transit Center Expansion Project
Change Federal funding code from 5309 to 5307
Transit Service to Selah & WSDOT Complex (Union Gap)
Two year demonstration project to provide the City of Selah and the WSDOT site
in Union Gap with weekday bus service.
The above additions to the TIP have been selected for addition from:
City Council;
Pavement Management Systems rating (PMS) input;
Community input via public hearings and other communication;
Bicycle Pedestrian Committee;
TransAction Committee;
Other Committee Recommendations;
Collision reporting and ratings;
Adjacent Communities.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Set a Public Hearing date to amend the Six -Year Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP)
for the 2005- 2010 planning years. The City of Yakima has identified a need to amend the
current Six Year Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of
Yakima to include additional Transit and Roadway projects affecting the Federal Surface
Transportation Program funds the City receives accomplish improvements within the City
(see attached). This amendment needs to be included in the City of Yakima STIP. This
amendment will allow the City to construct various Transit and Roadway projects that
were not included in the previously adopted STIP.
