A RESOLUTION authorizing the removal of six Oak trees located in the City
right-of-way at 2318 South 1St Street, Yakima, Washington.
WHEREAS, six Oak trees are currently located in the City right-of-way at
2318 South 1St. Street, Yakima, Washington; and
WHEREAS, Hertz Car Sales and Grumpys South 1St. Street Surplus has
requested authorization to remove six Oak trees since the trees in question block
the view of oncoming traffic; and
WHEREAS, the City Arborist has reviewed the situation, and the Oak
trees do not meet the City's criteria of being dead, diseased or dying; and
WHEREAS, if permitted to remove said Oak trees, costs for removal will
be at Hertz Car Sales' and Grumpys South 1St. Street Surplus' expense; and
WHEREAS, if permitted to remove said Oak trees, costs for replacement
trees will also be at Hertz Car Sales' and Grumpys South 1St. Street Surplus'
expense; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City
to grant permission to Hertz Car Sales and Grumpys South 1St. Street Surplus to
remove, at their sole expense, the six Oak trees and to plant replacement trees,
also at their sole expense, in the City right-of-way at 2318 South 1St. Street,
Yakima, Washington, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
YAKIMA:
Hertz Car Sales and Grumpys South 1St. Street Surplus, two businesses
adjacent to City right-of-way located at 2318 South 1St. Street, Yakima,
Washington, are hereby granted permission to remove, at their sole expense, six
Oak trees situated at said location with the condition that they plant at their sole
expense six replacement trees at 2318 South 1St. Street.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THIS 26th of November 2002.

Due to increased traffic on South first the trees infront of the dealership have not
only become inconvenient, but unsafe as well. We ask to be allowed to remove
them from the property. Hertz would pay for all cost of removal and landscaping.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Hertz Car Sales and Grumpys South 1St Street Surplus has contacted the City to request
permission to remove six Oak trees located near their businesses at 2318 South 1st Street.
The request is necessary because it obstructs oncoming traffic.
If Council approves the request, removal and replacement of the trees would be at the
businesses owners' expense.
