A RESOLUTION declaring a 1972 Ford fire pumper truck (vehicle identification number
D18889) to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the Fire
Department, and authorizing sale of the truck to the Yakima/Morelia Sister
City Association for Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) plus sales tax.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns one used 1972 Ford fire pumper truck (vehicles
identification number D18889) for which the City and the Fire Department have no immediate
or foreseeable use and which are surplus to the needs of the City and the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association has offered Fifteen Hundred
Dollars ($1,500.00) for said used fire pumper truck; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association intends to donate the fire
pumper truck to the City of Morelia, Mexico, in order to improve the emergency services that
Morelia is able to offer its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to sell
said fire pumper truck forthwith to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association rather than sell
the truck at a public auction of City surplus equipment at a later date, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1972 Ford fire pumper truck
(vehicle identification number D18889) to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the
Fire Department, and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell said fire
pumper truck to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association for Fifteen Hundred Dollars
($1,500.00) plus sales tax.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima is surplusing a 1972 Ford Pumper (VIN D18889) that was used for the Fire
Cadet Program and is no longer needed. In the interest of improving international relations and
in the spirit of cooperation with its sister city Morelia, Mexico, the City of Yakima has agreed to
sell a 1972 Ford Pumper to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association. The sale of the 1972
Ford Fire Pumper to the Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association will allow it to donate the fire
engine to the City of Morelia, Mexico. The fire pumper and equipment is a much needed
apparatus that will allow the City of Morelia to provide improved emergency services to its
citizens.
The 1972 Ford fire pumper (VIN #D18889) and assorted equipment will be sold to the
Yakima/Morelia Sister City Association for the amount of $1500.00. This amount will include
the delivery of the apparatus to the Port of Tacoma for shipping to Morelia, Mexico.
