A RESOLUTION declaring one 1998 JCB Backhoe (ER 6066) surplus
and authorizing its sale to the West Valley School
District
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns a 1998 JCB Backhoe, equipment
number ER 6066, model 215E 4WD BHL Series 3 with the Serial Number
SLP215TCWE0475558, for which the City has no immediate or foreseeable use
and which is surplus to the needs of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has purchased a new replacement
backhoe; and
WHEREAS, the West Valley School District is interested in purchasing
the aforesaid JCB Backhoe for the current market value of twenty-five thousand
dollars ($25,000) plus tax, which is a reasonable price; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of
the City to accept West Valley School District's offer to purchase the backhoe and
proceed with the sale of the 1998 JCB Backhoe forthwith, rather than sell the
equipment at a public auction of surplus equipment at a later date, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
YAKIMA:
The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1998 JCB Backhoe,
ER 6066, model 215E 4WD BHL Series 3 with the Serial Number
SLP215TCWE0475558, to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima, and the
City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell said 1998 JCB Backhoe to
the West Valley School District for twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) plus
sales tax.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THIS 17th DAY of September 2002.

This letter is to confirm our interest in the purchase of the 1998 JCB
backhoe ER6066. It is a model 215E 4WD 2WS I3Hi. Series 3 with the Serial
Number SLP215TCWE0475558.
I have $25,000 (not including taxes) allotted in my budget for the
replacement of our backhoe. If this is an acceptable offer to you, then I
would like to proceed with the purchase.
Upon your approval, I will forward a Purchase Order for that amount plus
taxes.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Equipment Rental Division has one surplus JCB Backhoe (ER 6066). This piece of
equipment has been replaced with new equipment, and the City has no immediate or
foreseeable use for this backhoe.
The West Valley School District is interested in purchasing this equipment and has offered
$25,000 plus tax for the backhoe. This is a reasonable offer since the current value is
estimated to be $25,000.
