Dear Ms. Harvey:
CTY 22067,
June 13/200'y
_7.
At this time, we need to sell the salvage of the ,claimant vehicle. have a release of interest as they had not
received the title from the State as of yet.
After checking several of our sources for salvage bids, we could not get anyone to bid more than $50.00. Most
of the bids were courtesy bids based: on the age of the vehicle as well as4he damages.
We were able to get Autocraft Paint -&.Body Works to offer the towingand storage bills in exchange for the
vehicle. We find this acceptable 4i the:tow bill is $209.20 and -the storage ,bill could have been over $200.00
or $300.00 at the time we could have removed the vehicle on July 3, 2002.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION: On June 13, 2002, a City of Yakima Streets division
employee driving a City dump truck was in a two -vehicle accident. On June 14, 2002,
the owners of the other vehicle that was hit filed a damage claim with the City of
Yakima, relating to the accident and to the damage to their vehicle, a 1987 Buick
Century. The 1987 Buick was damaged in the accident and not drivable. On
approximately July 1, 2002, the City of Yakima paid the claimants for the vehicle, and
took possession of the salvage. The City of Yakima has no need for the damaged
vehicle. Craig Nance of Zaremba Claims Service was not able to obtain a bid in excess
of $50 for the vehicle. Autocraft Paint & Body Works has offered to retain the vehicle in
exchange for the towing ($209.20) and storage bills, which combined total is between
$400 and $500. This proposal has been recommended by Craig Nance of Zaremba
Claims Service as a reasonable disposition of the surplus vehicle.
