A RESOLUTION ratifying and authorizing execution of an architectural services agreement
between the City of Yakima and Davis Opfer Raab Architecture, P.L.L.C., to
develop specifications to complete construction of training facilities and
renovation of the living quarters of Fire Station No. 95 (formerly City of Yakima
Fire Station No. 5), 807 East Nob Hill Boulevard, Yakima, Washington.
WHEREAS, the Fire Department desired completion of the construction of the training
facilities of the Fire Station No. 95, 807 East Nob Hill Boulevard, Yakima, Washington; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department desired that the living quarters of Fire Station No. 95 be
renovated; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department required professional architectural services to develop
specifications for said construction and renovation activities; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department did not have the staffing levels or specialized expertise
necessary to provide said architectural services; and
WHEREAS, Davis Opfer Raab Architecture, P.L.L.C., offered to provide said architectural
services in accordance with the terms and conditions of the attached letter agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department directed Davis Opfer Raab Architecture, P.L.L.C., to
provide said architectural services in accordance with the terms and conditions of said letter
agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department is respectfully requesting that the City Council ratify and
authorize said letter agreement with Davis Opfer Raab Architecture, P.L.L.C.; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Yakima to ratify
and authorize execution of the attached letter agreement with Davis Opfer Raab Architecture,
P.L.L.C., for professional architectural services; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The attached and incorporated letter agreement between the City of Yakima and Davis
Opfer Raab Architecture, P.L.L.C., for architectural services to develop specifications to complete
construction of training facilities and renovation of the living quarters of Fire Station No. 95, 807
East Nob Hill Boulevard, Yakima, Washington is hereby ratified and authorized. The City Manager
is hereby authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to complete execution of said letter
agreement.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 18th day of June, 2002.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Personal Services Contract will allow Davis, Opfer, Raab Architecture to develop schematic
designs for the renovation of Station 95.
TRAINING AREA: A new classroom is to be provided on the unfinished second floor above the
existing training spaces. Two to three offices, two single restrooms, and an elevator will be
provided as per the original design. Any additional space remaining on the second floor will be
enclosed as storage space.
LIVING AREA: Existing flooring, ceiling tiles, lighting, and heating units will be replaced or
upgraded. A six -room sleeping dorm will be designed in the area of the current sleeping dorm
and workout room.
COST: An hourly rate not to exceed fee of $5,000. This is budgeted in 22.620 Fire Capital —
Buildings (Architecture Fee — Training Center and Station 95 Remodel).
