AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. 4 c
For Meeting of 5 - \ o
ITEM TITLE: Consideration of a Resolution Declaring Used Police Vehicle Surplus
and Authorizing its transfer to the Yakima Air Terminal.
SUBMITTED BY: Chief Blesio, Police Department
CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Chief Blesio - 575-6211
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Police Department currently has a used police vehicle in the Equipment Rental and
Replacement Division, which is in excess of the City's needs. This car is to be sold at auction
this year. The Yakima Air Terminal is requesting a surplus police vehicle, with certain surplus
police equipment included. The vehicle being transferred is Equipment #1341, a 1999 Ford
Crown Victoria with 78,000 miles.
The airport has a need for a law enforcement vehicle for airport law enforcement and security
missions. It will likely be operated at least part time by Yakima Police Officers in the course of
law enforcement or security operations at the airport. This will relive the Police Department of
having to supply a line patrol vehicle to the airport for security operations.
Staff is requesting the City Council declare this vehicle as surplus to our needs and authorize
its transfer to the Yakima Air Terminal.
