SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations require cities

Development Organizations (CHDO's). Currently the City of Yakima works with five
local agencies certified as CHDO's:
• Yakima County Coalition for the Homeless
• Habitat for Humanities
• Clean House
• Triumph Treatment Center
• Rural Community Development Resources
HOME Program funds may be used for housing development, sponsored and/ or owned
by the CHDO. Eligible activities include predevelopment costs and the acquisition,
rehabilitation and new construction of rental housing, homeownership and renter
assistance.
Yakima Valley Opportunities Industrialization Center (O.I.C.) submitted an application
and complete package to be certified as a City of Yakima designated CHDO. Yakima
Valley O.I.C. has been a state designated CHDO since March 1997. With approval of this
