SUMMARY EXPLANATION
The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, WorkSource Yakima, and the Workforce
Development Council are sponsoring "Job Fair 2002." This event will make it possible for
employers and employees to come together. This event may prove to be instrumental in bringing
employment to those that are otherwise still unemployed. ONDS will also use this event to
publicize the Renewal Community Tax Incentives.
The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, WorkSource Yakima, and the Workforce
Development Council are requesting the Office of Neighborhood Development Services to fund
the cost of conducting "Job Fair 2002." The cost will be $5,000.00, which will cover the cost of
renting the Yakima Convention Center and associated expenses. The Job Fair was approved by
Council and funded in 1999 and 2000, and it resulted in an effective and productive use of funds.
City support for this activity is an eligible CDBG expense and staff recommends use of this
source of funding from the Council approved 2002 CDBG budget for economic development.
