R-2002- 05 A RESOLUTION amending the adopted Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program for the period of 2002 through 2007 for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima annually prepares, reviews and adopts a Six Year Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima for the ensuing six year period, all as contemplated and required by State and Federal law, and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has identified a need to amend the current Six Year Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima; and WHEREAS, after a public hearing on the matter, held at a regular meeting of the Yakima City Council on January 15, 2002 the City Council finds that the projects attached hereto should be amended to include these projects on the adopted Six Year Transportation Improvement Program for the period of 2002 through 2007 for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima, now, therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The Washington Avenue Road Widening Project and the Nob Hill Road Widening Project, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, is hereby amended to be included in the official Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program for the period of 2002 — 2007 for the City of Yakima. SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Attached is a copy of the proposed amended Six -Year Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) for the 2002 — 2007 planning years. After the recent annexation, Washington Avenue from 48th Avenue to 72nd Avenue and Nob Hill Widening from 68th Avenue to 80th Avenue were dropped from the County' s STIP and need to be included in the City of Yakima STIP. This amendment will allow roadway improvement projects within the recently annexed area to be consistent with the approved City Budget and the following years' proposed budget for these projects. This will also make the City' s agreement with Congdon match the required agreed upon improvements.
