R-98-86 A RESOLUTION declaring used police cars to be surplus and authorizing their sale to the City of Tieton Police Department and the City of Moxee Police Department. WHEREAS, the City owns one used 1995 Crown Victoria police car, equipment number 1243, license number 18309D; one used 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police car, equipment number 1229, license number 16345D; one used 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police car, equipment number 1227, license number 16344D; and one used 1993 Chevrolet Caprice, equipment number 1210, no license number, for which the City has no immediate or forseeable use and which are surplus to the needs of the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Tieton Police Department has offered fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) each for said 1995 Crown Victoria police car and 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police car (license number 16345D) which is a reasonable price for said vehicles; and WHEREAS, the City of Moxee has offered fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) for said 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police car (license number 16344D) and sixteen hundred twenty dollars ($1,620) for said 1993 Chevrolet Caprice police car which are reasonable prices for said vehicles; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City to sell these police cars forthwith rather than sell them at a public auction of City surplus equipment at a later date, now, therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned 1995 Crown Victoria police car, equipment number 1243, license number 18309D; 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police car, equipment number 1229, license number 16345D; 1994 Chevrolet Caprice, equipment number 1227, license number 16344D; and one 1993 Chevrolet Caprice, equipment number 1210, no license number, to be surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sell said 1995 Crown Victoria and said 1994 Chevrolet Caprice police cars to the City of Tieton Police Department for fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) each plus sales tax, and said 1994 Chevrolet Caprice and said 1993 Chevrolet Caprice to the City of Moxee for fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) and sixteen hundred and twenty dollars ($1,620) plus sales tax. These cars are to be sold at auction next fall. A fourth car is also available for surplus and was previously declared surplus by Council Action on April 7, 1998. The City of Tieton is requesting to purchase a 1995 Crown Victoria for use by the Tieton Police Department. This unit is Equipment #1243, License # 18309D. The second unit is a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice, Equipment #1229, License #16345D. The price of $1,500 for each vehicle is a reasonable price for surplus police vehicles with high mileage. The City of Moxee is requesting to purchase a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice for use by the Moxee Police Department for the price of $1,500. This unit is Equipment # 1227, License #16344D. The second unit was previously declared surplus and the Equipment number is #1210, and had no current license. This vehicle is to be sold at the price of $1,620 in that is was recently detailed by an outside vendor. The prices for these vehicles are reasonable for surplus police vehicles with high mileage. Staff is requesting the City Council declare these units as surplus to our needs and authorize the sale of the vehicles to the City of Tieton for the price of $1,500, plus sales tax of $118 50 for each of the two vehicles totaling $3,237. Staff is also requesting Council declare the third unit as surplus and authorize the sale of the two units to the City of Moxee for the price of $1,500 plus tax of $118.50 and $1,620 plus tax of $127.98 for a total price of $3.366.48 for the two vehicles.
