RESOLUTION NO. 97- 154
declaring one used portable dance floor surplus and
without value to the Center and authorizing its transfer to
the Christa McAuliffe Academy.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns one used portable dance floor
located 'at the Christa McAuliffe Academy, and
WHEREAS, said dance floor is surplus to the needs of the Yakima
Center, and
WHEREAS, the dance floor has no realizable resale value;
WHEREAS, the Christa McAuliffe Academy is a non-profit agency and
has stored the dance floor for the past year, and
WHEREAS, the disposal of said dance floor under the terms and
condition of this resolution is in the best interest of the Yakima Center, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
1. The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned dance floor
to be without value and surplus to the needs of the Yakima Center and the
City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to dispose of said dance floor
in a manner consistent with this resolution.
2. Said dance floor is hereby transferred to the Christa McAuliffe
Academy.
3. This resolution shall have no effect unless it is subscribed by an
authorized representative of the Christa McAuliffe Academy.

message: it has come to our attention that the ofd portable dance floor that we have been
storing for you for the past year is now surplus.
We are a non-profit private school with a definite need for this floor as a
recreational area surface for our students. We have renovated all 50 sections to
make them serviceable and have kept them in good repair.
if it is possible for you to donate this flooring to our school, we would very much
appreciate it. We do not have the funds to purchase it.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima Convention Center currently owns a used portable dance floor located at
Yakima Center which is excess to the Center's needs. The dance floor was removed from
the Center and stored at the Christa McAuliffe Academy over a year ago because of lack of
space and the deplorable condition of the dance floor.
The dance floor has no value to the Center because the framing, edges and surface is not
suitable for public use. The dance floor was also replaced with a new one during the
Center expansion project which was recently completed.
Staff recommends that the City Council declare the dance floor surplus and that it be
transferred to the Christa McAuliffe Academy, a non-profit academy.
