A RESOLUTION authorizing temporary closure of portions of 16th Avenue,
Spring Creek Road. and Washington Avenue for the 1997
Yakima Air Fair.
WHEREAS, the Yakima Air Fair Board has requested the City of Yakima to
close 16th Avenue from Washington Avenue to the southern City limits and that
portion of Spring Creek Road within the City of Yakima; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima Air Fair Board has made the aforementioned request
for closure at the hours and dates listed below in order to facilitate air show events
and practice flights at or preceding the 1997 Yakima Air Fair to be held at the
Yakima Airport; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 9.45.170B of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code the City Council deems the Yakima Air Fair to be a special event for which
street closure is desirable, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. The following streets are hereby closed at the stated times and
dates:
Spring Creek Road and 16th Avenue from Washington Avenue to Ahtanum,
except emergency vehicles and individuals with passes from the Air Fair:
July 11, 1997
10:40 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.
July 12, 1997
1:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
July 13, 1997
11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Washington Avenue from 40th Avenue to 48th Avenue:
July 12, 1997
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
July 13, 1997
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima Air Fair Board requests temporary street closures outlined above which are
required to meet FAA safety requirements. Closures would be in effect on July 11 from
10:40 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and July 12 and 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 16th Avenue
and Spring Creek Road and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 12 and 13 on Washington
Avenue.
