RESOLUTION NO R-96-138
A RESOLUTION revising the Transit System fare structure to provide for a "Day Pass"
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima Transit Division currently provides public
transportation services to Yakima's citizens and visitors, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to add convenience to the fare structure for those
who utilize the bus system and to encourage increased use of the service, and
WHEREAS, implementation of a "Day Pass" program would allow fixed route riders
unlimited rides for a single day; and
WHEREAS, a price of $1.50 per unlimited -ride day would provide a fair and reasonable
and a simplified basis for a Day Pass program, and
WHEREAS, establishment of a Day Pass program for City Transit service is in the best
interests of the City Transit System and the City at large, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City of Yakima Transit Manager is authorized and directed to implement a Day
Pass program to sell Day Passes which may be utilized as payment for service on all Yakima
Transit fixed routes, at the price of $1.50 for unlimited rides on a single day
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 15th day of October, 1996.

ITEM TITLE: Resolutions modifying the Transit fare structure to include
a Day Pass and allowing participants of the Dial -A -Ride
program to utilize fixed route bus service fare free.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Council previously approved the concept of
allowing Dial -A -Ride clients, who are able, to ride the bus system free as an
incentive to reduce their dependence on Dial -A -Ride.
We have also added the provision of a Day Pass for passenger convenience.
For the purchase price, which is recommended to be set at the cost of three
one-way trips ($1.50), a customer can ride th-i bus all day on the day for
which the pass was purchased. The attached resolutions accomplishes the
modifications.
