AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. I.2
For Meeting of 6/4/90 ,
Resolution authorizing the 1996 shuttle bus service for the 4th of
July celebration to be provided by voluntary contribution
SUBMITTED BY: Jerry C. Copeland, Director of Public Work
CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: BiII Schultz, transit Manager/575-6005
SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the April 30, 1996, meeting of the Council Transit
Committee, the issue of whether or not to charge a fare for the shuttle bus
services for the annual 4th of July celebration at the County Fair Grounds was
placed on the table for discussion. Since the beginning of these Independence Day
activities, shuttle bus services have been provided free to the public. The
financial condition of the Transit Division was also taken into consideration in the
Committee's deliberations. It was proposed that the standard special event fare
not be charged but, rather, provide the public the opportunity to make a voluntary
donation. Therefore, the attached resolution was prepared for that purpose.
