A RESOLUTION: modifying the Transit System routes and schedules
and providing a free fare promotional period.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima is currently providing public
transportation services to the citizens and visitors of Yakima through its
Transit Division, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve efficiency in the
operation of the system and to encourage increased usage of the service
through improved effectiveness by implementing the modifications
recommended by the Transit Workforce Committee, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wants to enable the Transit Division to
further modify routes and schedules as appropriate to achieve the goals
established by the Workforce Committee and in conformance with the
goals and standards set forth by the City Council Transit Committee in the
Transit Element of the City's proposed Comprehensive Plan, and,
WHEREAS, The City Council wants to promote the recommended
modified transit service, to introduce it and, to encourage citizens and
visitors to utilize it, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
YAKIMA:
The Transit Division is authorized and directed to modify transit
routes and schedules in accordance with the recommendations of the
Transit Workforce Committee as presented to the City Council on February
6, 1996. The implementation of said modifications shall take place at the
beginning of the next publication cycle of the transit route map/schedule.
The modified service shall be promoted in part through a free fare period
of not more than two (2) weeks. The Transit Division is authoried to make
further modifications as may be appropriate from time to time in order to
more completely achieve the goals and standards set forth.
