Councilmember Adkison called the meeting to order at 11:32 pm
- Discuss draft 2016 City of Yakima State Legislative & Administrative Priorities
Draft 2016 City of Yakima State Legislative & Administrative Priorities were presented to the
committee. The priorities are divided into three categories — Actively Pursue, Support, and Monitor.
Many of the proposed 2016 priorities mirror those of 2015. Some of the 2015 priorities have been
removed because they were accomplished during the 2015 legislative session. The committee
discussed each of the proposed priorities, suggested minor wording changes to some of the
priorities, and unanimously approved forwarding the proposed priorities to the full City Council with a
recommendation to approve.
- Discuss AWC Regional Meeting — November 10th —Yakima Holiday Inn
Committee members were encouraged to attend the November 10th Association of Washington
Cities ("AWC") regional meeting in Yakima. The 2016 AWC state legislative priorities will be
presented. The newly -appointed AWC CEO, Peter King, will also provide a review of current AWC
activities. 14th District State Senator Curtis King will also be presented with an AWC Legislative
Champion award.
