BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. B.i.
For Meeting of: August 2, 2016
ITEM TITLE: Apple Award to IT Senior Computer Client Services Technician
Michael Robles
SUBMITTED BY: Wayne Wantland, ITS Manager
Brad Coughenour, Communications Manager
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Michael Robles, Lead Client Service Technician was nominated for an Apple Award for employee
recognition by Brynn Sides, Communications Supervisor and Brad Coughenour, Communications
Manager from SunComm, the consolidated dispatch center. In this particular incident Michael
assisted the communications center in an after -hours call out at a critical incident where the
primary computer program that was needed to operate in the field was not working. Michael
responded to the field and not only fixed the issue but identified other issues that would inhibit full
operation of the Mobile Command Center that was in use. His quick and dedicated response
allowed the operation to proceed without any limitation or additional problems.
This incident is not a one -off action by Michael. He is consistently working on not just `fixing
issues' but always taking those additional steps that ensure our customers, the employees of the
city, have the best possible IT environment to work in. A little more than a year ago Michael was
promoted to the Lead Technician position and he has taken on those new responsibilities without
hesitation and at a high level of performance. In addition, during this past year Michael has taken
the Leadership Training course provided by the city to better improve himself and prepare for
what we hope is a long career with the City.
Michael is well deserving of the award not only for this specific action that prompted the
nomination but his sustained performance as a city employee.
