For Meeting of: December 10, 2024
ITEM TITLE: Council Nominating Committee recommendations regarding
appointments to boards, commissions, and committees
SUBMITTED BY: Janice Deccio, Chair
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Council Nominating Committee met on November 25, 2024 and made the following
recommendations for appointments:
• Arts Commission - appoint Margot Stroop (Yakima Valley Museum position) and Kimberly Ruck
(Yakima Symphony Orchestra position)
• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) - reappoint Charles Robin, Luis Gutierrez, and Lisa
Vallejo
ITEM BUDGETED:
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 24-25: An Engaged Yakima
RECOMMENDATION: Approve recommendations.

COUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES
City Manager's Conference Room
Monday November 25, 2024
The meeting convened at 3:02 p.m.
Council present: Janice Deccio, Patricia Byers, and Matt Brown
Staff present: City Clerk Rosalinda Ibarra
Other: John Cooper
Janice Deccio was selected as Chair of this meeting.
1. Review applications —Committee members reviewed applications and made the
following recommendations:
• Yakima Arts Commission —
MOTION: Byers moved and Brown seconded to recommend Margot Stroop
to the Yakima Valley Museum position and Kimberly Ruck to the Yakima
Symphony Orchestra position on the Yakima Arts Commission. Motion
carried unanimously.
• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC)—
MOTION: Brown moved and Byers seconded to recommend Charles Robin,
Luis Gutierrez, and Lisa Vallejo for reappointment to the Lodging Tax
Advisory Committee (LTAC). Motion carried unanimously.
• The Nominating Committee will conduct interviews for the upcoming vacancy on
the Yakima Housing Authority Board and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory
Committee.
2. The meeting was adjourned at 3:11 p.m.
