For Meeting of: November 4, 2024 ITEM TITLE: Open record public hearing to consider the Yakima Planning Commission's recommendation on a Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA#003-24) and Rezone (RZ#003-24) request for 8603 & 8604 Ahtanum Rd SUBMITTED BY: *Trevor Martin, Planning Manager SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Hordan Planning Services, on behalf of Expensive Hay LLC, submitted a Comprehensive Plan Map Amendment (CPA), Rezone, and Environmental Review applications for three (3) parcels in the vicinity of 8603 & 8604 Ahtanum Rd. The property owner is requesting to change the Future Land Use Map designation from Low Density Residential to Community Mixed Use, and to concurrently rezone from Suburban Residential (SR) to Local Business (B-2). After holding a public hearing on August 14, 2024, the Yakima Planning Commission recommended approval of the CPA and Rezone applications, with the Findings being signed by the chair on August 28, 2024. In accordance with YMC 16.10.090, the City Council shall direct Planning staff to prepare legislation to approve, approve with conditions, or deny each amendment under consideration; and at a subsequent City Council meeting enact an Ordinance adopting the decision reached at the public hearing.
