BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. 9.E.
For Meeting of: October 15, 2024
ITEM TITLE: Resolution placing the shopping cart operation fee in the Master Fee
Schedule
SUBMITTED BY: Brooke Hargreaves, Senior Assistant City Attorney
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
If City Council adopts the proposed ordinance amendment to YMC 6.27, prohibiting operation of a
shopping cart on public right-of-way, the suggested penalty is $50. This fee should be placed in the
master fee schedule.
Additionally, the City recently adopted appeal language for this chapter but if the infraction for operation
of a shopping cart is adopted, the appeal process would be through the court system, so the appeal fee
should be removed.
