Subject: Yakima Valley Seniors Citizens Inc. —Donation to the Harman Center—Fire System
Control Panel
The City of Yakima Parks& Recreation Division has benefitted greatly over the years from the
generous donations provided for a wide variety of projects. Among our most outstanding benefactors is
the Yakima Valley Senior Citizens Incorporated (YVSCI). YVSCI has consistently organized and
executed numerous fundraising events, contributing significantly to the betterment of our senior
community.
Their dedication shines through events like the Apple Crisp Social, Potato Feed, Breakfast with Santa,
and many more. The funds raised from these events, alongside proceeds from the Coffee Bar and the
Soup and Sandwich lunches held three times weekly, have been pivotal in enhancing the Harman
Center.
Thanks to YVSCI, we've seen the acquisition of new tables and chairs, a beautiful sliding front door,
new washer and dryer, all while greatly improving the facility's comfort and functionality. Their most
recent contribution covered 50% of the replacement cost for the Fire System Control Panel and sensing
units throughout the building, amounting to over $6,000. This donation is crucial in maintaining our
multi-million-dollar facility, ensuring safety and reliability.
The leadership and volunteers of YVSCI have demonstrated unwavering commitment and effort. Their
support allows the Parks & Recreation Division to allocate funds to other essential programs and
projects, ultimately enriching the lives of our Yakima residents. We extend our deepest gratitude and
commendation to the members of YVSCI for their continued dedication and tireless work that have
made the Harman Center a truly exceptional place through their support and generosity.
