The purpose is to adopt to "pot holes" in a crusade to get others to do the same. I contacted your finance department and I was told that the city accepts donations for the street department, so I am suggesting we have a "Pot Hole Crusade." People will if they wish, donate $20 for the car they drive. No voting needs to take place. Those who don't want to be a little generous better not complain about the streets, if some of us choose to donate. At least this is a better plan that our citizens being forced to pay $20 for each car that operates on the stree which is licensed. At one time my husband had a line of 21 Mustangs (not horses). Could you see us voting to tax ourselves $20 for each vehicle? Anyway, I sent a letter to the editor earlier this week with my thoughts so you may wish to watch for it and then see if anyone else will donate money. My informant said that the donation might be non - taxable. Maybe others will see that as an opportunity to fix pot holes on the streets that front their businesses. Anyway, everyone is talking about the pothole problem so I see this as one easy way to get folks to participate. It is just a one time gift and that could release fumds to do some of the serious road defects. I hope you watch this issue closely. I will be watching, too. I was amused that the person with whom I spoke at the finance department, knew I donated for the banners being replaced. People are observant!
