Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:04 am by Patricia Beyers
Roll Call
Members Present: Mayor Patricia Beyers, Lisa Vallejo, John Cooper, Charlie Robin, Anne Moneymaker, Sara Allen and Angie Girard, Sarah Davila
City Staff Present: Jennifer Ferrer-Santa Ines, Jennifer Tippett, Andrea Flores, Anna Mitre (Intern)
Others Present: Connie Upton, Rich Austin and Colleen Adams-Schuppe
Approve minutes of previous meeting
Motion: Charlie Robin moved and Lisa Vallejo seconded to approve the previous meeting minutes. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Staff Report
Lodging Tax Revenue Update
Jennifer Ferrer-Santa Ines, Director of Finance and Budget for the City of Yakima reported on the Lodging Tax Revenue. Revenue for the first six months of 2022 is strong and expected
to receive $1.6M in 2023. All members agreed that this was a viable number.
Members discussed the amount of rooms being converted to H-2A Housing. Without the inventory of the Howard Johnson, there are currently 1681. The Hampton Inn should add an additional
71 rooms in the spring of 2024.
Continued Business
Jennifer Ferrer-Santa Ines read the notes from the May 1, 2021 meeting, reminding the board members that they agreed on a one-page narrative detailing how the grant funds were spent.
New Business
The board members discussed the Convention Center debt and would like to review the split of the percentages paid with the PFD board at the meeting on 7.28.22.
John Cooper gave all members a copy of a document dated 8.17.16 from the office of the Attorney General of WA, containing information on the LTAC roles
Motion: Lisa Vallejo moved to postpone reviewing the grant applications until the vacant position was filled. Charlie Robins seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
