The City Council met on this date pursuant to recession, Mayor Larson convening at the • hour of 9:00 A.M.,- Councilmen Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch, McNeice and Robinson, City Manager McMicken and City Attorney Andrews present on roll call. Councilman Kurbitz absent on roll call. . The'Invocation was given by Councilman Lambert. • MOVED by Lynch, seconded by Brown that Ordinance No. 960 adopting a budget for the year 1968, and fixing and levying the amount of taxes necessary to balance said Budget, be 1. passed as read. City Manager McMicken explained that the only changes from the 1968 Preliminary Budget to Final Budget was a reduction of $3500'in the operation and . maintenance category, which reduced the tax millage from 19.80765 to 19.800. Councilman Robinson indicated that as far as the requests and problems that the City has for the next year, the Council has heard from everyone concerned, has considered all the needs, has considered tax problems, the prospective utility tax and the estimated.revenues from ' those, and the efforts to hold all of them down. He further stated that the Council recognizes that the and Police Departments are not as strong as we would like.to . . have them, but we have done all we can and realize we are losing people because we are not paying enough, but this will continue. Councilman Robinson stated .that they feel they have done the best they can and the tax payers will get .the most for their money. • that can be given them. .Other Council members referred to the help that will be received from the Legislature and the fact that this money has helped a great deal to have a better budget. Council members further stated they realize there is not enough money to do all the things they would like.. After due discussion and consideration, Mayor Larson called for the roll call vote on the Motion to pass Ordinance No. 960 adopting the 1968 Budget and it passed, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch, McNeice and Robinson voting aye 'on roll call. Kurbitz absent. • ORDINANCE NO. 960, AN ORDINANCE adopting a budget for the City of Yakima, Washington, for the year of 1968, appropriating funds for the estimated expenditures, and fixing and levy- ing the amount of taxes necessary to balance the estimated revenue with the estimated expenditures. , Mayor Larson asked to be excused from the next regular meeting of the Council on October 9, 1967, and it was MOVED by Lynch, seconded by Robinson that he be excused: carried, Brown, Lambert, . Lynch, McNeice and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz absent. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was MOVED 'by Lynch, seconded. by McNeice that we do now at the hour of 9:45 A.M. : carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch, McNeice and Robins.- vot'nl! aye by voice .vote. .
