Minutes
Noel Moxley convened the meeting at 3:30 p.m. In attendance: David Rogers, Noel
Moxley, Soneya Lund, David Lynx, Teresa Pritchard, Susan Duffin, Jack McEntire,
Merivet Lombera (late), Randy Bonds Jr. (City of Yakima Liaison), Charlie Robbins
(Adhoc)
The Minutes from the November 20, 2019 meeting were reviewed. The minutes were
unanimously voted to be accepted.
Budget: Randy Bonds Jr. presented a report that there has been no change due to
COVID-19 pausing any actions for the Arts Commission this year. It was noted that
Windows Alive artists will be paid in the coming weeks.
Windows Alive: Due to COVID-19, the Spring show had been postponed. It will now run
July — December of 2020. Jane Cooper has begun to setup the exhibits from the 5 artists
that will be in this session.
Utility Box Wrap Project: David Lynx informed the Commission that no new boxes have
been installed and that he plans on adding labels to current installations soon.
Mural Project — 23rd Ave and Lincoln Ave Retaining Wall: Randy informed the
commission that a community member (Ashley Cardenas) has approached the
commission about painting a mural. He asked her to submit a formal proposal, nothing
has been received as of the meeting. Updates will be provided as needed.
Washington State Creative District: Charlie mentioned that Heath was still working on
this, but trying to secure funding.
Elect Chairperson: David Lynx was nominated and unanimously elected.
Group Updates:
Warehouse Theatre
Limited in traditional offerings. Hoping to open up in Phase 3 or 4 of Governor's plan.
They are using the time not open to complete projects that cannot complete while open.
Yakima Valley Museum
While also closed due to the pandemic, working on new exhibits. They have also
applied for Grants to help with the financial struggles of being closed.
Larson Gallery
New Gallery January, when they are hoping to open again. They are having some
online events in the mean time.
Yakima Symphony
Online event called "From Home" where they interview musicians and they perform. They
also are offering Yakima Youth Symphony Orchestra classes online to all music students
in the area.
