ITEM TITLE: Discussion and draft resolution concerning postponement of any
further City Council action on matters concerning construction of
the Yakima Downtown Plaza pending the November, 2015 election

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
At the May 19, 2015 Council meeting, Council members suggested bringing back discussion on a
postponement of any further City Council action on matters concerning construction of the Yakima
Downtown Plaza pending the swearing in of City Council members following the November, 2015
election.

RESOLUTION NO. R -2015-
A RESOLUTION concerning City Council action and providing for a postponement of any
further City Council action on matters concerning construction of the
Yakima Downtown Plaza pending the swearing in of City Council members
following the November, 2015 election.
WHEREAS, the City Council has initiated action by Gustafson Guthrie Nichols for
engineering and design services related to the Yakima Downtown Plaza project; and
WHEREAS, these plans and construction bid documents will not be completed until
January 2016 at the earliest; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is reasonable and appropriate to
postpone any decision to construct the plaza by the City Council until the City Council members
elected as a result of the upcoming November election have been sworn in to their new Council
positions; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Council will postpone any decision to construct the Yakima Downtown Plaza until the
City Council members elected through the upcoming November City Council election have been sworn
in to their new positions.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 2nd day of June, 2015.
