AN ORDINANCE relating to the mechanical code and related regulation;
increasing mechanical permit and plan review fees for the City
of Yakima; providing for an automatic annual adjustment of
mechanical permit and plan review fees based on the Consumer
Price Index (CPI) for the Seattle area; and amending Section
11.32.080 of Chapter 11.32 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code accordingly.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 11.32.080 of the Yakima Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:

Section 2. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance, or any provision of , the Yakima Municipal Code established by this
ordinance, is declared invalid or unconstitutional for any reason, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, or other provisions of the
Yakima Municipal Code established by this ordinance.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage,
approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
At the City budget wrap up; meeting of December 7, 2004, the Policy issue was
reviewed with a 6 -0 vote to l approve the policy for increase the mechanical permit
fees. Staff has developed the appropriate legislation for the City Council's review and
approval. It is important to note that the mechanical fees have not been increased
since 1991. This ordinance would increase the permits to help offset the code
inspector's partial FTE and other short falls to ensure the excellent customer service
continues.
