The following information is a sequence that the City of Yakima has pursued to have this site in compliance: • After receiving a complaint in June 2009, Yakima Fire Department Fire Marshal Ron Melcher and I responded on June 19, 2009 to conduct a site visit and spoke with Dunollie Enterprises principal Matt McDougal CO After our site inspection, Mr. McDougal was advised that due to the current fire load of log storage and the absence of constant watering of the logs, there were several issues that were mandated for immediate action • AU fire hydrants on the site had to be tested to obtain operability and fire flow availability. Also all hydrant caps must be removed and made operable. • Immediately, fire breaks between the log piles must be addressed. Cold deck storage shall not exceed 500 feet in length, 300 feet in width and 20 feet in height. These standards are required from the 2006 International Fire Code, which the City of Yakima enforces • Yakima Ilit 1994 0 • • I was notified on June 20, 2009 by Reed Barduhn from Inland Fire Protection advising me that they were hired by Dunollie Enterprises to conduct hydrant testing and the City of Yakima required a copy of that report after completion. All hydrants that were not in an operable order, must be repaired • After hydrant testing was completed, signage located on 10 foot poles were to be installed to easily locate hydrants by Yakima Fire Department, which Dunollie Enterprises started to complete • After a few additional site inspections by Ron Melcher and I, we are confident that all of the requirements that the City of Yakima has mandated and the immediate abatement and attention by Dunollie Enterprises, that the potential fire load at this location is under control. • All along during this process, Dunollie Enterprises has made significant progress for fire breaks and wetting down the surrounding areas. It is my professional opinion that this location is under control. • In the event of a fire and all of the abatements and corrections that the City of Yakima has mandated, the site is very manageable from a fire suppression standpoint.
