Subject: Yakima Trolley Funding
City Staff located the following expenditures and revenue for the Yakima Valley Trolley (YVT).
Staff is still trying to locate the original agreements to determine if there is a required pay back
of grant funds if the Trolley does not remain functional. Additional time is needed to complete
our research.

Estimated cost to reconstruct the roadway and permanently remove the tracks is $3 million.
This is in 2021 dollars and would need to be inflated for year of construction. Due to the Historic
designation of the Trolley system, removal of the tracks could result in an environmental
challenge by affected parties. This would result in unknown costs and delays.
• Trolley is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
