AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the sale, installation and servicing of heating
appliances in the City of Yakima; providing for the enforcement thereof;
prescribing penalties for violations thereof, and amending Ordinance No. B-
1$$4, and repealing Ordinance No. B -19$1
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 1 (a) of said Ordinance No. B -1$$4 is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"'Heating I meand any perso4 firm or corporation who installs or
contracts to install any or all types of heating appliances."
Section 2. Section 2 of Ordinance No. B -1$$4 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the business of installing
or contracting to install any type of heating appliance without first having
obtained and being the authorized holder of a valid and subsisting "Heating
Installer's License ", obtained according to and in compliance with the pro-
. visions of this ordinance, and without having filed withthe City Clerk a
valid and subsisting surety bond as hereinafter provided."

ection 3. Section ofrdinance No. B -1$$4 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"There is hereby created an Examining Board who shall periodically hold exam
inations for the purpose of determining the degree of proficiency of journeymen install-
ers and service men and issuing JourneyMen's licenses to those qualified, The Examining
Board shall:;consist of the Fire Marshal of the City of Yakima, the Plumbing Inspector,
two Heating Installers and one Journeyman, appointed by the Mayor, each.of whom shall
serve for a term �f one year or until his successor has been duly appointed. Members of
the Board shall serve without compensation. The Examining Board shall have the power to
make rules and regulations not inconsistent with this ordinance. H no limit shall
be placed upon the number of journeymen that may be licensed. Said _ 'Examining Board here-
by cfeated is hereby authorized and empowered to hold such examinations for the purpose o
examining applicants for similar licenses issued by other cities and towns in the State
of Washington at the request of such city or town thorugh its duly authorized representa-
tive, and such city or town shall pay to the City.of Yakima the sum of $5.00 per applican
and the clerk of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to execute appro-
priate vouchers to effect the collection of such fees."
Section 4. That there is added to Ordinance B -1$$4 Section 9(a) which shall
read as follows:
"An examination fee in the sum of $ 3.00 shall be paid to the City of Yakima
at the time of application for a Journeyman's License. If the applicant for said license
successfully passes the examination referred to in Section 9, he shall pay an additional
surti of $ 2'.;00, which sum, together with the $ 3.00 examination fee, shall constitute. full
payment for the Journeyman's L fee provided for in Section 6 hereinabove.

"If the applicant fails the examination, there shall not be a refund fo the
examination fee.
"The said examination fee. shall be forfeited to the City of Yakima, should
the applicant for a Journeyman's License fail to appear for examination within 60 days
after notification in writing.
"When applications are made to take examinations separately and at different
times for gaseous, liquid and solid fuels there shall be a separate $ 3.00 examination
fee for each application."

Section 5. That Ordinance No. B -19$1 be and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days
from and after its passage, approval and publication.

1958.

that the same has been passed as required by law.
