B -2109 AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not provided for in the 1957 Budget in the Garbage Department and providing for the transfer of funds within said department and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, a shortage of funds exists in the Garbage Collection Labor item within the 1957 appropriation of the Garbage Department; and WHEREAS, at the time of the adpption of said 1957 Budget it could not be reasonably foreseen that the amount as budgeted would be insufficient to pay all labor in connection with the collection of garbage and refuse by the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, there is an excess of funds in the Clerical Help Furnished by Street Department item in the 1957 Budget of said Department, and WHEREAS, the action contemplated herein is authorized by R.C.W. 35.33.90 and 35.33.12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: • Section 1. That an emergency exists requiring the additional expenditure' of $ 3,000.00 for the purpose of paying labor costs for the collection of garbage and refuse within the City of Yakima, and that said emergency could not be reasonably fore- seen at the time of the adoption of the 1957 Budget. Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated the additional sum of P 3,000. 00 to the Garbage Collection Labor item within the Salaries Classification of the Garbage Department Budget, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to issue emergency warrants upon said item in the sum of $ 3,000.00 upon the presentation of the proper vouchers therefor. Section 3. That $ 1,000.00 be and the same is hereby transferred from the Clerical Help Furnished by the Street Department item in the "Maintenance and Opeation" classification of the Garbage Department appropriation in the 1957 Budget to the Garbage Collection Labor item in the "Salaries" classification of said Garbage Department appro- priation, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to make the afore- mentioned transfer as provided for herein. Section 4. This ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, welfare and safety, and an emergency is hereby declared to ex- ost and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law and the City Charter.
