ORDINANCE No. B -2079
AN ORDINANCE pertaining to the organization and regulation of the Fire Department of
the City of Yakima and amending Ordinance No. B -1982.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. B -1982 be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. That there be and hereby is created a fire department in the
City of Yakima which shall consist of the following personnel:
Chief, Assistant Chief, Battallion Chief, Fire Marshall, Chief Mechanic, Alarm Superin-
tendent, Captains, Lieutenants, Inspectors, Signal Maintenance men, First Grade Fire-
fighters, Second Grade Fire - fighters, Third Grade Fire - fighters, Fourth -Grade Fire-
fighters, First Grade Alarm operators, Second Grade alarm operators, Third Grade alarm
operators, Fourth grade alarm operators, and Secretary.
The number of personnel in each of the above mentioned ranks shall be as determined by
the City Commission in the annual budget ordinance."
Section 2. Section 3 of said Ordinance No. B -1982, be and the same is here-
by amended to bead as follows:
"Section 3. The Fire Department and all members thereof shall be deemed
and classified for all purposes as firement and shall at all times be under the super-
vision and subject to the control of the Chief of the Fire Department."
Section 3. Section 5 of Said Ordinance No. B -1982, be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 5; The Chief of the Fire Department except as restricted by said
Ordinance No. B -108 or by regulations or directions of the City Commission or the Mayor
of the City of Yakima shall have authority to make all necessary rules and regulations
for the internal government of the fire department including the right to transfer any
individual to a classification of equal rank or grade, and the management and control of
all fire houses and equipment thereof belonging to the City, subject to all laws and
ordinances pertaining thereto."
Section 4. Section 14 of said Ordinance No. B -1982 be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 14. The Chief of the Fire Department and all firement, being all
of the members and employees of the Fire Department shall receive such compensation as
the City Commission may from time to time by ordinance:.. determine."
Section 5. Except as above amended said Ordinance B -1982 shall remain in
full force and effect.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force 30 days
from and after its passage, approval and publication.
