ORDINANCE NO. B -2056
AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation and other in-
cidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public; prescribing the
powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto; defining off-
enses; providing penalties and amending Ordinance No. B -1526; and declaring
an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Subsection ('b) of Section 48 of Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"(b) Vehicles on Right Have Right of Way: Every operator of a vehicle on
approaching a street intersection shall look out for and give right of way to vehicles on
his right, simutaneously approaching a given point within the intersection, and whether
his vehicle first reaches and enters the intersection or not; Provided, that this para-
graph shall not apply to operators on arterial streets or highways, or to vehicles enter-
ing an intersection which is posted with the 'Yield Right Of Wayt sign. The operator of a
vehicle approaching a 'Yield Right Of Way "sign shall reduce speed or stop if necessary in
order to yield the right of way to all traffic on the intersecting street which is so
close as to constitute an immediate hazard."
Section 2. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, property, health, safety, and an emergency is hereby declared to
exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage,
approval and publication as provided by law in the City Charter.
