ORDINANCE NO. B -2055
AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. B -2014 entitled "AN ORDINANCE relating to pro -
viding for a license or occupational tax upon certain businesses, occupat-
ations, pursuits and privileges; providing for the necessary administrative
machinery for the collection and enforcement of the licenses and taxes here-
under, and defining offenses and prescribing penalties; and declaring an
emergency. ", and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Section 5 of Ordinance No. B -2014 passed and approved by
the L ity Commission on April 9, 1957, be, and the same is hereby, amended by adding para-
graphs (' j) through (n) as follows:
"(j) National banks, state banks, trust companies, mutual savings banks,
building and loan associations, and savings and loan associations.
(k) Newsboys engaged in the sale or delivery of newspapers and magazines or
periodicals to the reading public.
('1) Any blind person engaged in business activities within t he City.
(m) Any person, firm or corporation which the city is prohibited from tax-
ing under the laws of the United States or of the State of Washington.
(n) Any person operating a business as a sole proprietorship without full
or part time employees who devotes less than 600 hours a year to said bus-
iness."
Section 2. There is hereby added immediately following Section 6 of Ordin-
ance No. B -2014 an additional section to be known as Section 6A, which reads as follows;
"Section 6A. CHANGES IN OWNERSHIP. Whenever there is a change in ownership
of a business, the business license previously issued.to the withdrawing
owner, or owners, must be surrendered to the City Clerk for cancellation.
The new owner or owners shall apply and abtain a new business license upon
the payment of a fee of S 3,00."
Section 3. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima; and
an emergency is hereby declared to exist; and said ordinance shall be in force and take
effect on the 30th day of July, 1957.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 29th day of July,
1957.
