ORDINANCE NO. B -2047
AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. A -132 entitled "AN ORDINANCE to license and regulate
theatres and public performances therein and .exhibitions and entertainments
at which moving pictures are displayed or exhibited; repealing Ordinance No.
A -122, passed by the City Uommission on the 9th day of June, 1913, and all
other ordinances and parts of ordinances conflict :herewith; providing a
penalty for the violation of this `ordinan'ce; 'and declaring an emergency. ";
and repealing Ordinance Nos. A -351 and A -357.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. A -132 be, and the same is hereby,
amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. The license fee for theatres, shows, operas, public performan-
ces or exhibitions or moving picture sh within the limits. of the City of Yakima shall
be as follows: For moving picture shows where other entertainment, vaudeville or
other performance is given, S 10.00 per annum $ 2.50 per quarter; for performances,
exhibitions, vaudeville or other entertainments or in connection with moving picture shows
20.00 per annum or $ 5.00 per quarter, or the sum of 3 2.00 per day, and said license
may be taken out by the year, by the quarter or by the day at the option of the licensee,
which option shall be stated in the application for license, as hereinabove provided."
Section 2. Section 4 of Ordinance No. A -132 be, and the same is hereby,
amended to read as follows:
"Section 4. The City Clerk shall not issue a license under the terms of
this ordinance until the applicant has paid the license fee provided for herein, and has
obtained a receipt from the City Treasurer therefor, nor until such applicant shall have
entered into a bond in the penal sum of $ 1,000.00 approved by the City Commission and
shall be conditioned that said applicant will faithfully comply with all the provisions
of the ordinances of the City of takima relating to or regulating any theatre, show, opera
.or other place where moving pictures are exhibited, desplayed or shown or public exhibi-
tions or performances are held; PROVID.EDD, HOWEVER, that'no bond shall be required for a
license granted for one day or for a single performance.
Section 3. The City Commission may at such time or times as it deems neces-
sary appoint a Board of Censors composed of not less three persons whose duty it
shall be to ascertain if any drama, play; theatrical, stage or platform performance, or
any picture or film exhibition portrayed, produced or displayed or to be exhibited, por-
trayed, produced or displayed, is in compliance with terms of Section Six of Ordinan-
ce No. A -132 of the Ordinances of the City of Yakima, and it shall be the duty of every
person, firm or corporation exhibiting, portraying, producing or displaying any of the
same to permit at any and all times any or all of the members of said Board of Censors
access free of charge to any play, performance 9r exhibition and whenever requested so to
do by any member of said Board of Censors shall ,disclose the nature and chara ter of any
play,exhibition or performance to be conducted or carried on as aforesaid and to exhibit
any film or picture proposed to be displayed, exhibited or produced.
Section 4. That Ordinance Nos. A -351 and A -357 be, and the same are hereby,
repealed. _
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its passage,
approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 2nd day of July, 1957.

as passed on the 2nd day of July, 1957, and that the same has been published as required
by law.
