B -2045 AN ORDINANCE amending Section 3 of Ordinance No. B -712, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. B -297, entitled: AN ORDINANCE relating to the licensing for the purpose of regulation and revenue, the carrying of passengers for hire by certain vehicles in the City of Yakima, and to the regulation of taxicabs, for -hire cars, sight - seeing cars; providing for the inspection and control thereof and for the licensing and control of drivers thereof, defining offen- ses, prescribing penalties, and Ordinance No. B -280, and all other ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency;" by amending Section 1 and by adding new thereto to be designated "Section 3 "; "Section 5 -B "; "Section 5 -C "; "Section 11 -A "; and "Section 11 -B "; and providing penalties for violation hereof" repealing Ordinance No. B -1212 and declaring and emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance B -712, passed and approved by the City Commission on the 17th day of June, 1946, and entitled as set forth in the caption hereof, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: "Section 3. That said Ordinance No. B -297, passed and approved as aforesaid and entitled as set forth in the caption hereof, be and the same is hereby amended by add- ing thereto a new section to be known as "Section 5 -A" and to follow Section 5 of the pre- sent Ordinance and to read as follows: Section 5 -A. The following schedule of charges for taxicabs is hereby esta- blished and adopted as the maximum rates that may be charged or collected in the City of Yakima; and it shall be unlawful for any person driving or operating, or engaged in the business of operating any taxicab or taxicabs, to charge any greater rate for fare than that specified therein: TAXICAB RATES: For 1 passenger for the first one -third mile or fraction thereof $ .50 Thereafter for each additional one -third mile or fraction thereof. .10 For each additional passenger(No additional passenger shall be picked up withour the express consent of the original passenger.) No charge shall be made for carrying one child under six when accompanied by an adult. For each three minuted of waiting time after the first three minutes .15 Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine of not to exceed Three Hundred Dollars (5 300.00), or by imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 3. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
