B -2042 AN ORDINANCE relating to the organization and personnel of the Police Department of the City of Yakima, providing for the appointment of members thereof, and re- pealing Ordinance No. A -200. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. The Police Force of the City of Yakima shall consist of a Chief of Police and such number of the following officers as the City Commission may from time to time by ordinance determine: Assistant Chief Captain lieutenant Detective Sergeant Jailor. _ Patrolman First - Class Patrolman Second -Class Patrolman Third -Class . Patrolman Fourth -Class Police Service Personnel Grade One Police Service Personnel Grade Two . Police Service Personnel Grade Three Police Service Personnel Grade Four Police Service Personnel Grade Five Police Service Personnel Grade Six Police Service Personnel Grade Seven Police Service Personnel Grade Eight The tenure of office of all members of said Police Department shall be as de- fined in Ordinance No. B -199 of the City of Yakima. The Chief of Police shall be appoint- ed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Commission froth the eligibility list as cert- ified by the Civil Service Commission of the City of Yakima. All other members of the Police Department shall be appointed by the Chief of Police from such eligibility list. (.,As amended by Ordinance B -1407, signed- and approved October 27, 1952.) Section 2. The Chief of Police and the members of the Police Department shall receive such compensation as the City Commission may from time to time by ordinance determine. Section 2 -A. In absence or disability of the Chief of Police, or in case of the vacancy of that office, the Assistant Chief of Police or next ranking officer shall perform all duties of the Chief of Police. Ordinance No. A-200, passed and approved December 20, 1915, and entitled as follows, to -wit: "AN ORDINANCE. pertaining to the organization and regulation of the Police Force of the City of North Yakima, providing for the appointment of the members thereof, prescribing their tenure of office, - defining and fixing their duties, fixing their compensation, repealing Ordinance No. A -133 and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances and resolutions in conflict herewith and declaring an emergency ", acid it is hereby, repealed. Section 4. This Ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the City - 'barter. 1957.
