AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 2 and 5 of Ordinance No. B -1890 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
relating to the municipal sewage system and additions and amendments there -
of and extensions thereto; and the financing, maintenance and operation
thereof as a public utility; providing for rates and charges; for the crea-
tion of a special "sewer fund" to which shall be paid all revenues and out
of which shall be paid all expenses of said system; and for the administra-
tion and enforcement of said ordinance; and declaring an emergency;" increa-
sing sewer service charges; and providing for approved meters on all water
discharged into the sanitary sewer system.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. B -1890 is amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2. From and after May, 1, 1957, there is hereby charged to all
premises, both residential, :multiple . residential, commercial and industrial, served by
water within the corporate limits of the City of Yakima a sewer service charge which is
hereby fixed at 33 -1/3% of the water charge for domestic water furnished to said premises,
but in any event not less than 1.00 per month."
Section 2. Section 5 of Ordinance No. B -1890 is hereby amended to read as
follows: .
"Section 5. All persons shall have approved meters on all water supplies
which are ultimately discharged into the sanitary sewer system, or else shall meter the
liquid wastes. The amount of said sewer service charges for occupied or improved prem-
ises served by water within said. City which do not receive City Water for domestic pur-
poses, or have auxiliary water supplied, shall be 33 -1/3% of the water charge for a like
quantity of City water, but in any event shall not be less than $ 1.00 per month."
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days
after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
PASSED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 15th day of May,
1957.
