ORDINANCE NO. B -2013
AN ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the City Treasurer to deliver general obligation
bonds to the Seattle First National Bank to receive payment therefor and to
deliver payment to the County Treasurer of Yakima County for the Yakima
Valley Regional Library Building Fund, and declaring an emergency.
WHEREAS, at a special election held on November 6, 1956, in the City of
Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, the electors did authorize the issuance of general
obligation bonds by the City of Yakima in the sum of $400,000.00 for the purpose of pro-
" viding funds to be used with like funds from the Rural County Library District of Yakima
County, Washington, for the purpose of building a new regional library building within
the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to a notice of sale hereafter given, bids for the purchase
of said bonds were duly received on February 25, 1957, and that said bonds were sold to
the Seattle First National Bank pursuant to said call for bids, and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima and the Rural County Library District have here-
tofore entered into an agreement for the' joint construction of a regional library build-
ing, and .
WHEREAS, the said City of Yakima and the said Rural County Library District
have heretofore entered into an agreement establishing a Yakima Valley Regional Library,
and -
WHEREAS, said agreement provides that all funds received by either the City
of Yakima or the library district for library purposes shall be paid over to the Treas-
urer of Yakima County for the account of the Yakima Valley Regional Library, NOW, THERE-
FORE, .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the City Treasurer of the City of Yakima will be and she
is hereby authorized and directed to deliver to the Seattle First National Bank general
obligation bonds, series of 1957, numbers one to four hundred inclusive, in the sum of
$400,000.00, which bonds bear the date of March 1, 1957, and to receive payment there-
for from the Seattle First National Bank pursuant to the terms of the bid submitted by
said bank on February 25, 1957, and which bid was duly accepted by the City of Yakima
pursuant to Resolution No. C -1461.
Section 2. That the City Treasurer of the City of Yakima be and she is
hereby authorized and directed to deliver the proceeds from the sale of said general
obligation bonds to the County Treasurer of Yakima County for deposit in the building
fund of the Yakima Valley Regional Library.
Section 3. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, property, health and safety, and an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage,
approval and publication as provided by law and the City Charter.
