B -1991 AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating travel, traffic and transportation and their incidence upon the streets and other ways open to the public; and amend- ing Ordinance No. B -1526 and declaring an emergency. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:. Section 1. Section 86 (a) of Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 86 (a) 1. All streets and highways where angle parking is per- mitted shall be indicated by yellow lines painted on the pavement or signs posted at the curb." Section 2. Section 88 (g)of; :,said Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 88 (g), :Parking Meter Zones: That the following described por- tions of the following named avenues and streets in the City of Yakima are hereby es- tablished as parking meter zones: Both sides of Yakima Avenue from 6th Avenue to 6th Street. Both sides of East Chestnut Street from Front Street to Naches Avenue. Both sides of East Walnut Street from Front Street to South 4th Street. Both sides of East "A" Street from Front Street to Naches Avenue. Both sides of East "B" Street from Front Street to North 3rd Street. South side of East "B" Street from North 3rd Street to North 4th Street. East Side of 6th Avenue South from West Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. Both sides of 5th Avenue South from West Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut. Street. Both sides of 4th Avenue South from West Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. Both sides of 3rd Avenue South from West Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. West side of 2nd Avenue from first alley North of Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. Both sides of Front Street from East Walnut Street to East "B" Street. Both sides of 1st Street from East Spruce Street to East "C" Street. Both sides of 2nd Street from East Spruce Street to East "C" Street. Both sides of 3rd Street from East Spruce Street. to East "C" Street. Both sides of 4th Street from East Walnut Street to East "B" Street. West side of Naches Avenue from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Section 3. Section 88 (h) of said Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amend- ed to read as follows: "Section 88 (h). One hour -2 nickel- parking meter zones: The following described portions of the following named avenues and streets in the City of Yakima are hereby established as one hour 2 nickel(or 2 hour one nickel) parking meter zones: Both sides of East Yakima Avenue from Front Street to Naches Avenue. Both sides of 1st Street from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Both sides of 2nd Street from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Both sides of 3rd Street from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Both sides of 4th Street from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Section 4. Section 88 (i) of said Ordinance No..B -1526 is hereby amend- ed to read as follows: "Section 88 (i). One hour - 1 nickel - parking meter zones: The following described portions of the following named avenues and streets in the City of Yakima are hereby established as one hour -one nickel parking meter zones: . Both sides of West Yakima Avenue from 6th Avenue to N.P.R.R. tracks. West side of 2nd Avenue North from Yakima Avenue to first alley North of Yakima Avenue. Both sides of East "A" Street from Front Street to North 4th Street. Both sides of East Chestnut Street from Front Street to South 4th Street. East side of Front Street from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Both sides of South 1st Street from East Spruce Street to East Chestnut Street. Both sides of North 1st Street from East "A" Street to East "B" Street. Both Sides of South 2nd Street from East Walnut Street t o East Chestnut Street. Both sides of North 2nd Street from East "A" Street to East "B" Street. Both sides of South 3rd Street from East Walnut Street to East Chestnut Street. West side of Naches Avenue from East Chestnut Street to East "A" Street. Section 5. Section 88 (j) of said Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amend- ed to read as follows: "Section 88 (j). Two hour - 2 nickel parking meter zone: The following described portions of the f ollowing named avenues and streets in the City of Yakima are hereby established as two hour 2 nickel ('or 1 hour 1 nickel) parking meter zones: East side of South 6th Avenue from Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. Both sides of South 5th Avenue from Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street Both sides of South 4th Avenue from Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. Both sides of South 3rd Avenue from Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. West side of South 2nd Avenue from Yakima Avenue to West Chestnut Street. East side of South Front Street from East Walnut Street to East Chestnut Street. East side of North Front Street from East "A" Street to East "B" Street. Both sides of North 1st Street from East "B" Street to East "C" Street. Both sides of South 2nd Street from East Spruce Street to East Walnut Street. Both sides of North 2nd Street from East "B" Street to East "C" Street. Both sides of South 3rd Street from East Spruce Street to East Walnut Street. Both sides of East .Yakima Avenue from Naches Avenue t o 6th Street. Both sides of East Chestnut Street from South 4th Street to Naches Avenue. Both sides of East Walnut Street from Front Street to South '4th Street. Section 6. Section 88 (k) of said Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amended to read as follows: • . "Section 88 (k). Short term parking meter zones :, Thirty minutes 1 nick- el, and 15 or 12 minutes 1 penny, parking meter zones or locations shall be intersp- erced among the meter zones as h.ereirn established. Short term parking;.:meters shall be placed adjacent to public buildings or near business district intersections as directed by the Commissioner of Public Works. Such short term parking meters shall be painted red." Section, 7. Section 38 (1) 2 of said Ordinance No. B -1526 is hereby amend- ed to read as follows: "Section 88 (1) 2. The automatically controlled parking meter shall be adjusted and set to display a signal showing legal parking during the period of time that it is actuated by the proper legal coin of the United States. The legal time and the coin required shall be indicated by an instruction plate attached to the park- ing meter. Meters providing 12 minutes or 15 minutes of parking time shall be act- ivated by a one cent coin. Meters providing 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours shall be activated by the proper number of five cent coins of the United States as indicat ed on the instruction plate., Each said meter shall also be set, adjusted and arranged so that upon the expiration of said legal parking time, it will indicate by a mechanical operation that the lawful parking period has expired." Section 8. This ordinance is one to provide for the immediate preserv- ation of the public peace, property, health and safety of the people oft he ity of Yakima; and an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and said ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, approval and publication as provided for in the city charter.
