-- nR1ITNANCF NO 11-1935 — AN ORDINANCE of the City of Yakima providing for the submission to the qualified electors
of the city at a special election to be held therein on November 6, 1956, a
proposed ordinance relating to a license or occupational tax upon certain
businesses, occupations and pursuits; providing for the necessary administr-
ative machinery for the collection and enforcement thereof, and defining
offenses and prescribing penalties; and declaring an emergency,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That there be submitted to the qualified electors (voters) of the
City of Yakima, at a special election to be held therein on November 6, 1956, the propos-
ition of the ratification or rejection of Ordinance No. B- 1934ent itled:
AN ORDINANCE relating to and providing for a license or occupational tax
upon certain businesses, occupations, pursuits and privileges; providing
for the necessary administrative machinery for the collection and enforce-
ment of the licenses and taxes hereunder, and defining offenses and
prescribing penalties, and declaring an emergency."
That said Ordinance was passed by the City Commission on September 21, 1956,
and that its submission to the electors of the city is made pursuant to the provisions
of Article 1V, Section 4 of the Charterof the City of Yakima,
Section 2. That at said special municipal election to be held in the City
of Yakima, and in each of the several voting precincts therein, there shall be voted upon
the proposition mentioned in Section 1 hereinabove, and there shall be placed upon the
ballot a statement of said proposition in substantially the following form:

11 BUSINESS AND OCCUPATION TAX ORDINANCE REFERENDUM
Shall Ordinance No. B-1934 relating to and providing for a license or
occupation tax upon certain businesses, occupations, pursuits and
privileges; providing for the necessary administrative machinery for
the collection and enforcement of the licenses and taxes thereunder,
and defining offenses and prescribing penalties, be ratified?
Yes
No
Every qualified elector (voter) at said election desiring to vote in favor
of the ratification of said ordinance shall vote a ballot containing the word "yes ".
Every qualified elector (voter) at said election desiring to vote for .
the rejection of said ordinance shall vote a. ballot containing the word "no".
Not less than 45 days before the date of such election the City Clerk shall
certify to the auditor of Yakima County such proposition in the form of a ballot title
conforming to the foregoing statement of the same, and certify therewith a full and
complete copy of said ordinance.
11 Section 3. An emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the public
peace, property, health and safety of the people of the City of Yakima, Washington. An
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance is hereby declared to be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication as provided by .
law and the City Charter.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Commission of the City of Yakima, Washington
at a regular meeting thereof, and approved by the mayor thereof this 21st day of
September, 1956.
